Wajdi Cherif releases “Saturday Blues,” The first single from upcoming trio album: “Explorations”
Pianist and composer Wajdi Cherif releases “Saturday Blues,” the first single from his upcoming studio album: Explorations, to be released in January 2027. Performed by the Wajdi Cherif Trio with Gary Wang on acoustic bass and Robert Garcia on drums, “Saturday Blues” begins with the familiar feeling of the blues, direct, relaxed, and inviting, before gradually opening into a more dynamic conversation between the three musicians.
“I wanted the piece to have the feeling of something familiar, but with room for the music to move and develop,” says W. Cherif.
Recorded at Pinch Recording Studio in New York City in December 2024, the track captures the trio in an intimate studio setting, balancing the warmth of the blues with the spontaneity of a live performance.
“Saturday Blues” is the first of three singles leading to the release of Explorations, an album featuring original compositions alongside personal interpretations of established standards.
