Blending soulful melodies, a laid-back groove, and polished production, “Smoovee" delivers the signature sound that has become synonymous with Vel Lewis’s artistry. Built around his expressive Hammond organ performance and complemented by Marion Meadows’ unmistakable saxophone tone, the track captures a modern Smooth Jazz feel rooted in timeless musicality.
“Smoovee was created with that classic Smooth Jazz vibe in mind—melody, groove, and a sound that feels just right whether you’re relaxing, driving, or winding down at the end of the day,” says Lewis. “Having Marion Meadows bring his signature sound to the track made this release especially meaningful.”
The single was mixed by Grammy Award-winning guitarist and producer Paul Brown and mastered by Steve Hall of Future Disc Mastering, ensuring a high-quality listening experience tailored for both radio and streaming audiences.
Vel Lewis has built a respected career spanning decades, including early work with Philadelphia International Records, performances with iconic groups such as The Delfonics, and international touring with legendary vocalist Dionne Warwick. His music has also been featured in major television series including Friends and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In 2024, he received the Houston Black Music Award for Best Jazz Male Performer.
