If this album is indicative of the general quality of Ukrainian jazz playing, there must be a deep bench. --Mark Sullivan, All About Jazz
Over the last decade, Konstantin Ionenko has been engaged in several jazz projects spanning different countries, though only a small number of which were recorded and released. A solo project was just a matter of time as Ionenko's composing talent has been highly praised by colleagues and audience alike.

His debut release Deep Immersion contains seven original songs composed by Ionenko, at different periods of his life. The quintet features bright and talented young musicians from the Ukraine and eastern Europe including: Dmitri Schlelein (alto saxophone), Dennis Adu (trumpet/flugelhorn), Pavel Litvinenko (piano), and Pavel Gakitsky (drums).

The music of Deep Immersion is soft, wide, tender at some points, but contemporary and sophisticated at the same time. Lyrical phrases are masterfully balanced with contemporary harmonic and rhythmical structures, flavored with numerology and M-Base concepts, which for many years has been an inspiration for alto saxophonist Dmitri Shlelein.

Ionenko's music was highly appreciated by critics in Japan, USA and Europe. Some of which are comparing it to the works of Tom Harrell, Dave Douglas, Greg Osby and Herbie Hancock. Ionenko is searching his own place in the contemporary jazz music scene and it looks like he is on his way.

Tracks: Yellow Greenwich; Barracuda; Devoted; Deep Dive; Sect; Invisible; Megapolis Distress (CFS).
