Tyrone Smith is a melodically aware saxophonist who combines melody with rhythmic complexities that appeal to both jazz & R&B listeners, including fans of Maceo Parker, David “Fathead" Newman, Fred Wesley, Grover Washington, Jr., Kirk Whalum, and Marcus Miller. Smith has performed live with Charlie Persip, Al Jarreau, Bernard Purdie, Joss Stone, Benny Powell, Junior Mance, Lonnie Plaxico, The Roots, and has opened for comedian Sinbad. Recognized and awarded by both DownBeat and NAACP Act-So for both saxophone performance and composing.
