The Manhattan Transfer Highlights Biggest Lineup in the History of the "All That Jazz" Weekend

The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa is pleased to announce The Manhattan Transfer and the historic reunion of Joe Sample & The Crusaders will headline the resort's 16th annual “All That Jazz" Weekend in Asheville, NC, January 25-27, 2008. Jazz guitar virtuosos Bucky Pizzarelli and John Pizzarelli will open for The Transfer on Friday evening and The John Pizzarelli Quartet will open for Sample & The Crusaders on Saturday evening with their fabulous renditions from the American Popular Songbook. Other entertainers include guitarist Vince Lewis, trombonist Rick Simerly, saxophonists Todd Wright and Phil Thomson, vocalist Maddy Winer and many other regional jazz players.

“Our 16th annual event features more star power than ever," said Entertainment Director Maddy Winer. “Our audience will see an exclusive historic reunion concert with Joe Sample & The Crusaders; The Manhattan Transfer is the finest vocal jazz ensemble in the world."

For more than four decades, pianist and composer Joe Sample has been an integral, innovative and best selling part of jazz history. Along with The Crusaders he recorded 45 albums with monumental jazz standards such as “Street Life." Multiple GRAMMY-winning Manhattan Transfer is best known for their exuberant four part harmonies and incomparable jazz vocals. Singer/guitarist John Pizzarelli is best known as the leading interpreter of the Great American Songbook. His father, Bucky, is known as one of the greatest seven string guitarists in the world.

As always, the “All That Jazz" Weekend will feature evening and afternoon concerts, numerous jazz artists performing in our Great Hall all weekend long, “Meet the Artists" receptions following each evening concert, a Saturday morning jazz clinic and elegant breakfast buffets.

The package rates start at only $859 per couple including two nights' deluxe accommodations and advance admission tickets to all concerts. Individual concert tickets are also available for each night ranging from $50 to $55 with Saturday afternoon concert tickets selling for $12.
