Terrance McKnight, host of New York City's WQXR-FM 105.9 broadcasts nightly at 7 pm and “Q2" at 10 pm Saturdays, will MC the 14th annual Jazz Journalists Association's Jazz Awards gala, at City Winery (New York) York City, on June 14, 2010.

McKnight is an accomplished pianist and educator, who came to WNYC-FM (WQXR's sister station) from Georgia Public Radio in 2008. He has established himself as an omnivorous listener who defies presupposed genres to identify the qualities that distinguish great music regardless of context and style.

At the JJA Jazz Awards gala, McKnight will introduce JJA members who in turn present engraved Awards statuettes to winners in some 40 categories of excellence in jazz music-making, presentation and journalism. The Jazz Awards gala will consist of presentation of these Awards, and introduction of the JJA's “A Team" honorees -- activists, advocates, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz -- followed by a reception featuring live music by all-star ensembles (TBA).

Finalists for the JJA Jazz Awards will be announced on www.JJAJazzAwards.com on Thursday, April 15. Tickets for the Jazz Awards are not yet on sale, but will soon be available from JJAJazzAwards.com. Sign up on the JJAJazzAwards Facebook fan page!
