Despite an economic meltdown that has added to venture capitalists' already wary view of the music industry, fan-to-artist funding enabler Slicethepie has attracted another $1.4 million. The money will be used to broaden marketing efforts, as well as, support some of the 20 artists already funded by the site.

“We are delighted to close this latest round of funding which will enable us to fulfill the potential of Slicethepie and SoundOut," Slicethepie CEO David Courtier-Dutton in a statement. “We have some very exciting developments in the pipeline and are now perfectly placed to capitalize on these."

Slicethepie also recently launched SoundOut which offers artists and labels an analysis of the potential of new tracks based on fan feedback.
