February 21, 2011 (Seattle, WA)The new musician-founded record label Table & Chairs is holding its label launch celebration at Seattle's Q Cafe at 7pm on March 12th, 2011. Admission is $10 at the door, which includes refreshments by chef Sarah Farr.
The launch celebration will feature Table & Chairs artists Friendly Creature, Smallface, Kristian Garrard, Neil Welch, and Chemical Clock. Welch and Chemical clock, as well as additional T&C artists not performing, will be digitally releasing new material for this launch date.
Table & Chairs artists explore the bleeding edges of avant-garde and experimental improvisation, influenced as much by rock and electronica as by bop and Bach. Each ensemble develops a singular voice that complements the T&C vision while pushing the boundaries of genre.
As an active, unified body of musicians, Table & Chairs maintains a tangible presence through regular label performances and quarterly band showcases, positioning us as more than simply a collection of contracted bands under the ordinances of an overarching record business. We aim to differentiate ourselves from typical label models; our constituents function as artists individually, and collectively as a promotional support system for our musical works.
Table & Chairs also hosts The Racer Sessions, a weekly improvisation session at 8pm every Sunday at the Cafe Racer in Seattle's University District. The label launch celebration will mark the physical release of a compilation indexing the work of a handful of Racer Session curators.
