In a Canadian first, a famous bird will visit Ancaster. Local jazz musician Darcy Hepner has obtained a very rare musical score containing 1,632 pages of musical arrangements used by Charlie Yardbird" Parker.
Widely thought lost or destroyed, Mr. Hepner heard rumours that a New York record producer found the score, which had sat for almost 60 years untouched, while cleaning out his basement.
After a phone call, the producer told Mr. Hepner he could have a copy as long he didn't reveal the producer's name. In February, Mr. Hepner found himself in a New York cab on his way to get a copy the music.
I had a sense of awe about the whole experience," said Mr. Hepner. It is an artifact from history."
