Emmylou Harris is no diva. She doesn't swoop and show off with her singing, finding her power and impact through unique phrasing and an unerring ability to tap into rich emotional wells. One senses the person behind the voice and the songs, a heart and spirit that's fantastically human in the best of ways, by turns perfectly rough and bewitchingly tender. An elder statesperson for country, particularly what we now call Americana, Harris has remained a high quality class act throughout her long career.
