This documentary project will feature biographical interviews with legendary Philadelphia jazz musicians, behind the scenes footage from rehearsals and studio sessions, and live performances in intimate settings, with a special emphasis on jazz pedagogy--how the music is learned and passed on from one generation to the next, and where the music is headed.
The first clip is now online and features the godparents of Philadelphia jazz" Trudy Pitts and Bill, Mr. C" Carney. Other participants include Odean Pope, Orrin Evans, Calvin Weston, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, allaboutjazz.com founder Michael Ricci and many more to be confirmed, including Christian McBride, the Eubanks brothers, Jimmy Bruno and Michael Hampton.

Bios:
Byard Lancaster studied at Settlement Music School and Berklee and has over 50 years of musical experience, playing with musicians such as Dave Burrell, Lee Morgan, Elvin Jones and Archie Shepp, Byard's students have included Stanley Clarke, Kevin Eubanks and Marzette Watts. He resides in Philadelphia and continues to perform, teach, and learn, while promoting the city and its culture.
Jason Fifield, owner of Slife Productions is a magna cum laude anthropologist, videographer, musician and recording engineer with over ten years of experience. Clients include individuals, businesses and non-profits such as: CBS Radio, Philadelphia Public Schools, and Need in Deed.
