17-time Grammy Award-winning guitar master PAT METHENY, acclaimed bassist CHRISTIAN McBRIDE and superstar drummer ANTONIO SANCHEZ unite as the PAT METHENY TRIO, touring in support of brand new CD Day Trip, performs at Glenside's Keswick Theatre on Sat., March 15 @ 8 PM.

Day Trip is now No. 1 on the core Jazz radio charts, having debuted at No. 6 just two weeks ago. The first release from the current trio lineup, it vividly depicts the group at one particularly inspired moment. There's no shortage of praise for the CD: JazzTimes raves, “Having won Grammys in every category from rock to new age, Metheny is still among the most authoritative of jazz artists. Day Trip bears that out especially well." And the Philadelphia Inquirer concurs, “...the trio remains the most exposed form. There's nowhere to hide, and the easy fluency of Metheny's chops creates a unique world. His energy and verve make it fun to follow where he goes." BBC Music notes, “Day Trip provides a tantalizing combination of astute musical focus and bracing improvisatory freedom. A triumph."

Formed by METHENY in 2002, this incarnation of the trio, with McBRIDE and SANCHEZ, has blown away audiences all around the globe. The deep affinity between these three jazz powerhouses creates concerts of high intensity, containing a wide breadth of jazz improvisation around and within standards, non-standards, and hits from the Metheny canon. They finally made it into the studio to record Day Trip on a single day off during one of their recent US tours. All ten tracks are original Metheny compositions, including a song about the devastation in New Orleans entitled “Is This America (Katrina 2005)."

METHENY has set himself apart from the jazz mainstream, expanding and blurring boundaries and musical styles over the last three decades. With 17 Grammys in nine separate categories he broke the record for multi-category wins. His body of work encompasses a series of influential trio recordings, award winning solo albums and numerous scores for hit Hollywood motion pictures. Collaborations and duets with major artists include Ornette Coleman, Steve Reich, Charlie Haden and Jim Hall.

Known as the first-call bassist for a vast array of jazz's most influential artists, Philly-born CHRISTIAN McBRIDE has become one of the most acclaimed acoustic and electric bassists to emerge from the jazz world. His passion for musical diversity has led him to work with everyone from Chick Corea to Joshua Redman, Kathleen Battle to D'Angelo, Diana Krall to Bruce Hornsby, Quincy Jones to Sting. In addition to his own critically acclaimed recordings, McBride has graced the big screen playing his bass in director Robert Altman's 1940's period piece, “Kansas City" (1996), as well as its two soundtracks.

Three-time Grammy Award winner ANTONIO SANCHEZ has played with the Pat Metheny Group and Pat Metheny Trio since 2002. One of the most sought after drummers in the international jazz scene, he recorded the Grammy-winning Wide Angles with the late Michael Brecker and has performed and recorded with many other artists including Pacquito D'Rivera, Danilo Perez, David Sanchez and Charlie Haden. His debut recording as a leader, Migration, was released last year.
