On an island in the north Atlantic, there is an organ trio playing all kinds of music, and they are releasing a CD to share it with the world. Iceland-based ASA Trio's first studio album is Plays the Music of Thelonious Monk. The digital release is today, but CD's are available for pre-order which includes an immediate download.

The trio (guitarist Andres Thor, organist Agnar Magnusson and drummer Scott McLemore) has been a working unit for over 5 years, and Plays the Music of Thelonious Monk in which they personalize such Monk masterpieces as Criss Cross and Ask Me Now. It is the culmination of a project that began unknowingly with the first tune the three ever played together, “Bemsha Swing."

Although this is the first official release by the trio, two live recordings are free to download from their website asa-trio.com. One which demonstrates the enormous stylistic range of the band and one which is their performance of John Coltranes “A Love Supreme."
