Toronto, Ontario -- JAZZ.FM91 is honoured to announce the return of Jeff Healey's “My Kinda Jazz" to the programming line-up on JAZZ.FM91 beginning this Monday, May 17th at 9PM.

The program originally aired from May of 2005, right up until Healey's passing in March of 2008 at the age of 41 after a lengthy struggle with cancer. “My Kinda Jazz" showcases the traditional jazz of the 1920s and '30s, and includes listener requests in addition to Healey's personal choices. A highlight of the broadcasts is the use of his rare - and rarely heard - collection of 30,000 plus 78-rpm records.

The Canadian born, Juno award winning guitarist and bandleader is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive guitarists of our time, consistently selling out shows as the leader of “The Jeff Healey Band", and playing trumpet as well as guitar in a band he called “Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards".

The encore presentations of “My Kinda Jazz" are something that Cristie Healey says her late husband would be proud of. “Traditional jazz was such an integral part of Jeff's life and he loved having the opportunity to share his passion for music with others. He would be touched to know that people will continue to enjoy the work he did, with his collection from an era that meant so much to him", said Cristie.

“Many listeners have asked if we would consider running Jeff's show again, and I am delighted that Cristie supports the idea," said Ross Porter, President & CEO of JAZZ.FM91.

Jeff Healey's “My Kinda Jazz" returns to the airwaves Monday nights from 9PM-11PM beginning May 17th.

JAZZ.FM91 has been called “One of the Best Radio Stations in the World" by BusinessWeek, and is Canada's only registered not-for-profit radio station dedicated to the jazz community and music education. JAZZ.FM91 can be heard live on the air at 91.1FM, streamed online at www.jazz.fm, or listened to on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with the free JAZZ.FM91 App.
