This Monday, June 7th, we'll present another edition of our special feature, MONDAY WITH THE MASTERS on MOJA Radio. This time the focus is on one of the most popular, active and unique guitarists, composers and bandleaders in MOJA, CHARLIE HUNTER. Back on May 23rd Charlie celebrated his 43rd birthday so we'll wish him a belated Happy Birthday and share his story with you for an hour. You'll hear of his beginnings growing up in the San Francisco Bay area, how busking on the streets in Europe helped him formulate the idea to play the 7 and 8 string guitars he's become so famous for. You'll also hear some of his many all-star collaborations and his emergence as a leader in the mid-'90's. Listen for MONDAY WITH THE MASTERS twice every Monday, at Noon Eastern/9 AM Pacific, with a replay Monday night at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific and this week we place our spotlight on a musician that is truly one of a kind, the great CHARLIE HUNTER!

Every Friday beginning at 7 AM until midnight ET we'll begin each hour with a classic piece of Jazz Fusion history with our special feature we call IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION. This Friday, June 11th, we'll celebrate the artists who successfully navigated a very tricky turn in their careers with a special feature we call “BEBOPPERS EMBRACING FUSION!" Just as Bebop filled many Big Band fans and players with shock, awe and despair, so did Fusion shock many beboppers as fusion broke the rules with electric instruments and new rhythms. Some who played Bebop like Miles Davis, Chico Hamilton, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea not only embraced the changes but helped define the genre. But you may be surprised at the music made by some of the other lions of Bebop...how about Dizzy Gillespie, Ahmad Jamal, Cannonball Adderley, Don Cherry, Freddie Hubbard, Monty Alexander, Pharoah Sanders, Roy Haynes & Stan Getz? You'll hear them all if you join us for this week's edition of IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION. It's “BEBOPPERS EMBRACING FUSION!"

As Chick Corea celebrates his 69th birthday on Saturday, June 12th we think it's a good time to present a special edition or our weekly feature WORDS & MUSIC on MOJA Radio, this one titled “RETURN TO FOREVER REVISITED!" In 2008 when Chick, Stanley Clarke, Lenny White and Al Di Meola picked up where they'd left off decades before with their tour of the world they thrilled millions of fans with their performances that brought back wonderful memories but at the same time they rekindled what has now become a fusion reawakening among not only the fans but many musicians who have found new inspiration in the free-wheeling attitude of the fusion era. Interview segments followed by music will begin each hour from Noon through Midnight Eastern time (9 AM-9 PM Pacific). You'll look to fusion's past, present and future with four of its giants if you join us for “RETURN TO FOREVER REVISITED," on this week's WORDS & MUSIC.

Twice every Sunday listen for three of our most popular special features on what we call THE SUNDAY SPECIALS here on MOJA Radio. At 9 AM & 9 PM Eastern time you'll hear an hour of fun and funky stuff on JAMMIN' JAZZ...JAZZ FOR THE NEW GENERATION WITH MICHELLE SAMMARTINO followed at 10 AM and 10 PM Eastern time by our weekly look at the hottest new MOJA coming out on THE ALL NEW MUSIC REVUE. Then we'll wrap it all up at 11 AM and 11 PM Eastern time with an hour inside the world's only imaginary jazz club for rare, live performances on LIVE @ MOJALAND. So listen for THE SUNDAY SPECIALS twice every Sunday from 9 AM to NOON, with a replay Sunday night from 9 PM to Midnight Eastern/6-9 PM Pacific on MOJA Radio!
