Then it's time to hear funky, new thing from master drummer Stanton Moore and a trio including long time friends Robert Walter and Will Bernard. It's called “Groove Alchemy" and it's as fine as you'd think it might be. We'll top off the hour with the great bassist Dave Holland and his new Octet with the album “Pathways," the trio of Soul-Jazz groove masters from Michigan known as Organissimo and their new one titled “Alive & Kickin'," and inventive guitarist Nels Cline and his band The Nels Cline Singers (no singers in the band by the way) and their new one “Initiate." Every Friday beginning at 7 AM until midnight Eastern time we'll begin each hour with a classic piece of Jazz Fusion history with our special feature we call IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION. This Friday, April 16th, we'll celebrate one of the great jazz flutists and a major contributor to the fusion era on the day that would have been his 80th birthday with a special feature we call “HERBIE MANN'S GREATEST FUSION HITS." Herbie grew up in New York City playing bebop but became one of the first to fuse Brazilian music with jazz in the early 1960's so when Fusion hit he was ready to roll into the era and worked with the likes of Larry Coryell, Duane Allman, Chick Corea, Miroslav Vitous and others on albums like Push Push, Memphis Underground, Muscle Shoals Nitty Gritty and classics live releases recorded at New York's Village Gate and The Newport Jazz Festival. Listen this Friday and you'll hear them all and help us celebrate his 80th Birthday. It's “HERBIE MANN'S GREATEST FUSION HITS," on this week's edition of IF IT'S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION.

This Saturday we'll salute one of the greats of MOJA as we present our weekly feature WORDS & MUSIC on MOJA Radio this one titled “STANTON MOORE: THE MAN BEHIND THE BEAT!" As we debut his brand new release, “Groove Alchemy," we'll sit down with the man from New Orleans to talk about the city where we was born and raised, including his personal Katrina story, his view of the history of jazz with New Orleans as the source, his work with the all-star band Garage A Trois and much more. Not only will you hear his words, with fellow GAT member Skerik sitting in, but you'll hear music from all three of the brand new releases that he's a part of including his new solo work, Garage A Trois's “Power Patriot," and Galactic's latest, “Ya-Ka-May." Interview segments followed by music will begin each hour from Noon through Midnight Eastern time (9 AM-9 PM Pacific).
