In January, she was named an NEA 2000 American Jazz Master for her tireless effort to spread the beauty of jazz to the public and in May she received the 2000 Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Award!
To celebrate, Marian welcomes lifetime achievers to the Fall Season of Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz (October - December)!
The season begins with Latin jazz innovator Chucho Valdes and ends with vocal sensation Susannah McCorkle in a musical tribute to the life and music of composer Alec Wilder. In between, guests range from piano legend Paul Bley and guitarist Gene Bertoncini to vocalist Carmen Lundy and violinist Johnny Frigo, to name but a few.
