London's Apple iPad Launch Was Crazy

8am, Regent Street, London. Hundreds of shoppers, photographers, journalists, security staff, police and curious onlookers crowd Apple's flagship UK store as part of the British iPad launch.

Stephen Fry made a surprise appearance to cheers and claps from the crowds of queuers and Apple staff. He already had an iPad of course, but showed up to be a part of the madness.

Also in attendance, and pictured above, was the record-holding world's tallest couple, in full bridal attire. Obviously a giant PR stunt, but they were sweet regardless.

As the minutes passed, more and more first-to-the-till shoppers emerged, to rounds of applause and the onslaught of questions and flash photography, courtesy of the nation's media -- Wired included.

It appeared to be another flawless product launch for the company, with the usual over- the-top ludicrousness of Apple's cheering staff.
