Featuring The FIU JAZZ FACULTY QUARTET

This group is comprised of highly educated Jazz musicians now offering their expertise at Florida International University's School of Music. Most have toured the world performing with Jazz legends and one member has published 5 highly-acclaimed books that are used as texts throughout the country's numerous Jazz schools. The group includes Gary Campbell on sax, Mike Orta on piano, Jamie Ousley, bass and Rodolfo Zuniga, drums and percussion. All hold Master's Degrees and many have their own recordings available on-line. Fulbright Scholar Awards and National Endowment for the Arts grants have been awarded to various group members for their individual work in their respective areas of study. These high level performers, composers, authors, recording artists and educators have guided the Jazz department of FIU's School of Music to national prominence and continue to prepare hundreds of music students each year for careers based on America's indigenous music—Jazz.

Please tune in worldwide on our Internet site at WLRN.Org at 1:00pm, EST on 1/21/11, for the broadcast.

This show is generously co-sponsored by Pollo Tropical and Friends of WLRN.
