Linear Jazz Improvisation: Books Now in Hard Copy

Trombonist and composer Ed Byrne announces the release in HARD COPY of new editions of all 42 Linear Jazz Improvisation books: 12 Books for All Instruments and Voices: Concert, Bass Clef, Bb, and Eb. They are now available in spiral-bound hard copy through LuLu.com for easy reading on the piano or music stand with new color covers. They will soon be available also at Amazon. All LJI books come with play along capabilities (except Book 1).

E-Book prices have been lowered.

Byrne's essays, developed from the advice he offered fellow musicians on the All About Jazz Musician 2 Musician and Music Theory and Analysis bulletin board forum are being released in a 276-page book entitled, Speaking of Jazz: Essays and Attitudes. It constitutes a complete explanation of Byrne's life's work in jazz, with examples, exercises, and related philosophic thinking.

About Ed Byrne

Born December 30, 1946, in Philadelphia, Ed Byrne is a trombonist, composer/arranger, and educator who has performed and recorded with most of the jazz worlds leading musicians during a career that has spanned four decades.

A Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory of Music, Ed is the recipient of many honors. He was nominated Best Trombone Soloist" by Latin New York magazine; his composition Fenway Funk" was nominated for a Grammy Award; and Eddie Palmieri's 1974 album, on which Ed played lead trombone, won a Grammy Award the following year.

Ed performs regularly with his band, Eastern Standard Time.
