Like.FM - Track All Your Music Listening Sessions

If you took Last.fm, removed the radio feature, and kept the scobbling, you'd get Like.fm. The app lets you track your music listening sessions across iTunes, YouTube, Pandora, and Grooveshark, among others, and lets you create playlists of your favorites and share them with friends. Once you install the web and desktop apps, they run in the background and create a listening history.

As long as a song is listened to 80% of the way through, it gets added to your profile. Naturally, you can follow your friends and add songs from their listening sessions into your queue too, as well as, write reviews for songs and share them across your social networks. In the future, more recommendation tools will be added which may take past listening into account before making suggestions.

Like.fm also hopes to build a mobile app that will track iPod listening too.

For now, Like.fm is a glorified scrobbler, but founder Chris Chen aspires to make the app more than that. While you can also link your Last.fm account to Like.fm, Chen believes what separates the two apps is the ability to more easily connect with and follow your friends and create custom charts. Overall, Like.fm is great service. As mobile support and other features are added, it will only get better.

Like Facebook though, there's still no way to quell the (sometimes) uneasy feeling of near strangers following your listening sessions. Or, worse yet, the sinking feeling that you'll need to start censoring some of your listening habits.

After all, guilty pleasures, especially in music, are kept private for a reason.
