One of Kit Walker’s most recent projects is the Acoustic Jazz Quartet with Gary Brown (bass), Evan Francis (Alto Sax, Flute), Eric Kurtzrock (drums) and Kit Walker (piano, Hammond B3). Now if you check the credentials of these musicians, you’ll find that the musical circles they travel in one way or another touch the eclectic roots we love in Mizar5.

Evan Francis, for example, played with Mike Keneally’s “Beer For Dolphins” and his involvement with AAJ contributor Andrew Durkin's “Industrial Jazz Group" takes us into realms we’ve certainly been before. Bassist Gary Brown toured with Steve Winwood, George Duke and affiliates (Dianne Reeves, Sheila Escovedo), Lyle Mays, Flora Purim & Airto and works in a film and soundtrack production team. Drummer Eric Kurtzrock studied with Andre Previn, Art Blakey and was accepted into the Masters program at the Eastman School of Music. In 1997 he relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area and thrives in the widely musical landscape the Bay Area has to offer.

An M5 Interview with Kit Walker will soon be available, in the meantime do check out the audio clips of this acoustic jazz quartet, they perform compositions from Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Kit Walker...
