JAZZ.FM91 Announces 2013 Sound Of Jazz Concert Series Lineup

Toronto, Ontario: The JAZZ.FM91 2013 Sound of Jazz Concert Series returns this Fall for a 38th season of shows from an all-star mix of international and local jazz artists. This season features 6 concerts running from September through December at The Old Mill Inn, Toronto, on Monday nights at 8:00PM.

The season kicks off September 30th with music legend Dick Hyman on solo piano. Hyman, a pianist, composer, arranger and music director has scored over a dozen Woody Allen films, including “Broadway Danny Rose”, “Manhattan” and “Everyone Says I Love You”.

In celebration of Joni Mitchell’s birthday, Ian Shaw will perform in “Joni at 70” on October 21st. His acclaimed 2006 album “Drawn to All Things - The Songs of Joni Mitchell" saw him “praised far and wide as the single greatest male jazz vocalist Britain has to offer" by JazzTimes. Ian is also the host of “Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show”, heard on JAZZ.FM91 Sunday nights.

October 28th Canada’s reigning clarinet king, Ross Wooldridge pays tribute to the late great “King of the Clarinet”, Artie Shaw and His Gramercy Five. In honour of Remembrance Day on November 11th, multi- instrumentalist virtuoso and Canadian jazz icon, Don Thompson, presents “Make Love Not War", featuring some of the greatest love songs ever written. His all-star band includes Michael Stuart, Reg Schwager, Neil Swainson, Terry Clarke and vocalist, Diana Panton.

Joey DeFrancesco, one of the world’s greatest living Hammond B3 organ players, performs with a group of talented young musicians in the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band on November 25th.

On December 16th, Juno and Gemini Award nominated vocalist, Jackie Richardson, will appear in a special holiday-themed concert to close the season.
