The Jazz Vocal Coalition (JZVOC) is dedicated to the professional advancement of vocal jazz performers and the promotion of vocal jazz to the general public. The Coalition seeks to create a worldwide community of jazz singers in order to share knowledge and experience, recognize outstanding achievements and to encourage the highest standards of professionalism, musicianship and artistry. JZVOC is committed to the continued evolution and enrichment of the jazz tradition by specifically providing mentoring and educational opportunities to emerging talent. Membership is open to professional jazz singers, clinicians, students, amateurs and associations. The concept emerged as a result of a shared vision by Cathy Segal Garcia, Ellen Johnson and April Lang who, as singers and educators have been continuously seeking better opportunities for the jazz vocal community.

Presently the Jazz Vocal Coalition has two major chapters: Los Angeles and New York City with more currently being developed. They intend to create chapters around the world with the vision of uniting jazz singers and the art of jazz singing. Membership perks include access to an online record store, vocal resources, performance, recording and clinic opportunities, and a comprehensive network of singers and venues.

JZVOC's future plans are to create student scholarships, mentorship programs, festival and artist in residence opportunities, partnerships with other organizations and grants. To learn more about the JZVOC or to become a member, visit the website at www.jzvoc.org or call 562.377.0971.

“The Jazz Vocal Coalition shares the same mission for jazz vocalists that our organization has for all creative people, i.e., education, support, and most importantly, empowerment. The Coalition will play a vital role in promoting and supporting this uniquely American art form." ~Gerry Bryant, Secretary of the Board of Directors, California Lawyers for the Arts

“The Jazz Vocal Coalition is dedicated to publicizing and helping solo jazz singers, a very worthy cause. Singers who dedicate themselves to jazz need the support of the jazz public and I support the Jazz Vocal Coalition 100%." ~Scott Yanow, jazz journalist

“It is inspiring to see what jzvoc is doing to promote and cultivate the art of jazz singing". ~ Jay Clayton
