New York, NY September 28, 2010—Sean Sullivan will be performing live in celebration of his new CD release Square One at the legendary Birdland in NYC on Thursday, October 28th, 2010. Doors open at 5:30PM—set begins at 6:00PM.
Sean Sullivan is an agile, versatile vocalist and an urbane, articulate songwriter who keeps the jazz flame alive while exploring new musical territories—all amply demonstrated on his new CD release Square One, featuring horn legend and Ray Charles alumnus David “Fathead" Newman, who sadly, passed in 2009. Along with his nimble voice, his original songs reflect a startling maturity beyond his years, giving the listener the best of both worlds, a youthful exuberance tempered by an uncanny development. At Birdland, Sean, a two-time winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, will be performing with international jazz star, guitarist Paul Meyers, who has worked with such jazz luminaries as Jon Hendricks, Kenny Barron, Ron Carter and Wynton Marsalis to name but a few. Also joining Sean will be Brazilian percussionist Café DaSilva another formidable presence on the international World Music scene who has played with, among countless others, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Randy Brecker, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, Larry Coryell and Paquito D'Rivera.
