On Sunday August 20, 2006 Malaspina's Milner Gardens and Woodland, in Qualicum Beach, will proudly host the 3rd annual Jazz in the Garden festival. The gates will open at noon. The series of four performances between 12:30 and 5:00 p.m. is sure to please. The event will showcase unbelievable talent in a variety of classic and contemporary jazz styles.

The afternoon will begin in fine style as Phil Dwyer band warms up the stage with a high-class performance that is sure to make the gardens come alive. Saxophonist, pianist, arranger and composer Phil Dwyer's repertoire is as impressive as his ability. Joining Phil for this occasion will be Ingrid Jensen, the renowned, home-grown trumpet soloist who has earned an outstanding reputation in the Big Apple.

The talent continues to flow as the Ian McDougall All-Star Quartet, featuring Oliver Gannon, Ron Johnston, and Ken Lister, takes the stage. The combination of trombone, jazz guitar, piano and double bass all played with exquisite flair, is an occasion you won't want to miss. Tom Keenlyside, of Vancouver, with Altered Laws, featuring Miles Black on piano will amaze when they take the stage. Closing the afternoon's festivities is The Milner Gardens All-Star Big Band with special guest vocalist Karin Plato, who will perform exciting new arrangements of great standards and jazz classics.

The main stage will be set up on the great lawn overlooking Georgia Strait. Seating will be provided; however, lawn chairs are welcome.
