Rick DellaRatta performs his Jazz for Peace concert Nov 2nd & every Sat night following at Jazz on the Park, 36 W106th St bet Manhattan Ave/Central Pk W @ 8pm.
Jazz for Peace began on Oct 7th 2001 at Troy Music Hall with The Rick DellaRatta Quartet featuring Eddie Gomez, Lenny White & Paquito D'Rivera. Rick recently performed his concert at The United Nations on Sept. 25th featuring American, Israeli & Middle Eastern musicians as well as performances in Italy, Spain & Paris. DellaRatta extends his tour to South Africa and Asia in 2003. Through his Jazz for Peace" world tour Rick hopes to achieve his life long endeavor proving that the art form of Jazz has the ability to enlighten and affect people in profoundly positive ways. Rick believes that Jazz is Americas' greatest gift to people worldwide and peace can begin to spread by performing with musicians from regions that are politically controversial. Past history has proven that the art form of Jazz has the ability to create a positive effect that unites people and may eventually start to transform the barriers & issues of different cultures and beliefs." DellaRatta, considered by many to be the premier singer/instrumentalist in jazz today, was recently nominated for the 2000 MAC Award for Recording Of The Year" for his double album live CD release titled Live in Brazil & The Blue Note" on Stella Records. Rick was also a 1998 and 1999 ASCAP Popular Award Winner as well as the 1997 Back Stage Bistro Award Winner for outstanding singer/instrumentalist. Rick DellaRatta recently completed his symphonic composition Permutata" which was recorded at the world renowned Abbey Road Studios by The London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Roger Briggs for the MMC label.
