Jazz FM has appointed Philip Murphy to the new role of head of enterprises, with immediate effect.

In the role Murphy will be responsible for all of Jazz FM's non-radio activities, currently comprising a record label, live music events and digital services.

Murphy was one of the co-founders of what is now Mama Group, where he held the role of chief operating officer and was also the group managing director of its music businesses.

Jazz FM chief executive Richard Wheatly says, “I'm delighted that Phil is joining us. Jazz FM has just celebrated its first birthday as an independent company. We are looking forward to building upon our first year's success in rapidly developing a large UK radio audience by focusing on the huge potential global audience. We also see the growth of non-radio enterprises as vital to the success of the business and Phil's experience in music and media, particularly in live events and artist development represents a key part of our strategy for Jazz FM over the next two years."
