Jazz Bridge Third Thursday Concert Series in Willingboro, NJ presents pianist Eric Mintel and his Quartet at the Willingboro Library—220 Willingboro Way in Willingboro Township—on Thursday, January 15. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and show time is 7:30 p.m. Information: 215-517-8337.

Pianist/composer/bandleader/recording artist Eric Mintel—one of the foremost exponents of the music of Dave Brubeck—was playing Brubeck compositions, and playing them well, at the age of 15. The Eric Mintel Quartet has played for presidents Clinton and Obama, on concert stages throughout the world including the Kennedy Center, on radio and television, and just a few years ago was invited to perform at the United Nations for UNESCO head of operations, Eric Falt. Two years ago, Mintel released his 10th CD, this one consisting of all original music, titled “Just Around The Corner.” While Mintel owes something to Brubeck stylistically, he’s his own man in every area, with a rhythmically percussive feel and joyous sense of swing. Featured with the Quartet are Nelson Hill on clarinet, alto and soprano saxophones; electric bassist Jack Hegyi and drummer Dave Mohn.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.
