The Jazz Arts Group of Columbus (JAG) is pleased to announce the placement of 69 students in its 2010-11 Youth Jazz program, part of its Jazz Academy community programs.
At this years September auditions, 90 students, from 50 individual middle and high schools in over 15 school districts, auditioned for placement in one of three ensembles: the Columbus Youth Jazz Workshop (CYJW); the Columbus Youth Jazz Studio Ensemble (CYJSE); and the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO). Each ensemble rehearses weekly and offers a variety of performance and educational activities each season.
The Jazz Arts Group is dedicated to advancing the art of jazz through performance and education. The Youth Jazz program, now celebrating its 20th year, fulfills this mission by providing the opportunity for students in grades 7 12 to participate in one of its three outstanding ensembles. JAG supports music education in the schools and cooperates with the music education community all Youth Jazz members are expected to be actively participating in their school music program(s).
