Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey return to the Left Coast in September for an run that stretches from San Diego to Seattle and back to Oklahoma. They're coming back to the Western United States after a successful tour in April that launched the release of their new album, 'Lil Tae Rides Again', on Hyena Records. The shows follow a string of high profile East Coast and Midwest appearances, including Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island, Lincoln Center's “Keep A Light In The Window: An Homage To Joel Dorn" in New York City and Diversafest, the world class music festival & conference in Tulsa,OK.

The California dates of the run are sure to be multi media barrage's - prepare yourselves!! Our friends from PMP (they print our Tshirts!) are touring with us for the first week of tour in California. PMP will be doing some exclusive live painting and art making, as well as doing some titillating new shirt prints. BRING YOUR TSHIRT to be printed on, and come away from the night with a fly new hand-screened shirt! Their great friend Ezra Li Eismont will be joining them for the Chico and Arcata gigs, which is sure to be a special treat.

JFJO's critically acclaimed, 'Lil Tae Rides Again', with it's ambient soundscapes and bombastic beats, has drawn comparisons to artists from the likes of Aphex Twin & Boards Of Canada to Pink Floyd and The Flaming Lips. While deemed a departure for the Tulsa- based band, 'Lil Tae Rides Again' is actually true to JFJO's mercurial nature. They've consistently set out to explore new musical directions throughout their 15-year history. At various points in their career, JFJO have featured an eight-piece horn section, they've delved into funk, ska and swing, and reinvented themselves as an electric free jazz ensemble. Through the first half of the decade, JFJO performed primarily as an acoustic jazz trio. With the release of Lil Tae Rides Again, the trio of Haas, Mathis, & Raymer expanded to include Pete Tomshany and Chris Combs on guitars, in order to better interpret the album in a live setting. With this new rig of multiple guitars, lap steel, and more, JFJO's current sound has drawn the label “post-rock jazz."

To get a taste of this new live production be sure to check out the new digital release “Lil Tae Rides Again:LIVE" available exclusively from STS9's 1320records.com. This official live version was compiled and edited by the band, combining performances from Portland, Denver, and Tulsa. The result is a perfect companion to the studio CD, Lil' Tae Rides Again. JFJO plan to remain on the road throughout the remainder of 2008. At the start of October JFJO will play at a handful of festivals and club dates including a return to the Blue Note in NYC. Then the band departs for Europe where they will be performing at Guinness Cork Jazz Festival in Ireland and the 40th Umea International Jazz Festival in Sweden amongst others. The tour culminates with a show on Halloween in London!
