Devin Phillips escaped hurricane-torn New Orleans into the welcoming arms of the Portland jazz community in September. A longtime jazz saxophonist who has toured and recorded with artists as diverse as Lenny Kravitz, Herbie Hancock, Los Hombres Calientes and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Phillips was brought to Portland through a program with the Portland Jazz Festival.
