LONGMONT, CO--The Longmont Jazz Festival expands this year to a free eight-day celebration from August 13-20 of performances, a jazz clinic with Peter Sommer and Art Lande August 18, jam sessions, a jazz art show and more. On Saturday and Sunday August 19-20 from noon till night, the Roosevelt Park Pavilion will feature mainstream, '30s swing dance music and gypsy jazz, bebop, traditional, Latin, straight-ahead and avant-garde jazz. Jacob Varmus is pleased to announce the release of his 2004 recording All the Things We Still Can Be. It is the first mass-produced recording for Mr. Varmus as a leader and features five of his early compositions with an outstanding group including Toru Dodo (piano), Nate Radley (guitar), Yoshi Waki (bass), and Brian Woodruff (drums).

The silky-toned trumpeter and cornetist is a New School Jazz graduate and currently artistic director of Astoria Music Society's jazz concert series.
