Ritz-Carlton to Close 5-Diamond Las Vegas Hotel in May

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co will close its five-diamond property in Las Vegas this May, after the hotel struggled with a slide in demand and revenue.

“It's nothing the hotel did. It's a simple lack of business and a decline in the tourism industry," said Ritz-Carlton spokeswoman Vivian Deuschl. Warner Music Group Posts Net Loss

Company dips $17 million for fiscal quarter. Warner Music Group posted a net loss of $17 million, down 11 per share, for the fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31, the company announced Tuesday.

WMG posted a $23 million profit in the same quarter of 2008.

Revenue grew 3.5% to $918 million from $887 million in the same quarter the previous year but declined 2% with exchange rates factored in.

The Bronx Arts Ensemble presents legendary jazz pianist VALERIE CAPERS and her quartet on February 27 at 8 pm at the Riverdale Y, 5625 Arlington Avenue in the Bronx.

Commissioning and Ensemble Development and Residency Partnership are now posted on the CMA website. Application deadline: Friday, March 12, 2010.

Ensembles are invited to apply to New Jazz Works. Either an ensemble or presenter can apply to Residency Partnership

CMA will offer a series of grant application workshops. One can attend the workshop in person at the CMA office or via telephone. CMA will send a phone number to those who will teleconference in advance of the workshop.

Whitworth Jazz Ensemble Conducts First Ever Tour of New York City, New Orleans

The award-winning Whitworth Jazz Ensemble recently returned to Spokane after a successful tour of New York City and New Orleans Jan. 9-20.

Highlights of the tour included performing with jazz legend Lee Konitz and well-regarded jazz musicians Donny McCaslin, Ryan Keberle and Larry Panella.
