Herbie Hancock to Receive Honorary Degree from The Juilliard School at 106th Commmencement Ceremony

The Juilliard School holds its 106th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11 AM in Alice Tully Hall (Broadway at 65th Street, NYC). Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi presents honorary degrees to four outstanding artists. The recipients are:

The three new corporate funders introduced last week by the Detroit International Jazz Festival represented a small coup for the organization. The festival will need plenty more sponsors if its annual Detroit Jazz Festival and year-round community and educational programs are to survive long term.
