The New York Times is considering a five-dollar per month charge for access to its Web content, according to Bloomberg. The newspaper floated the idea to its print subscribers in a survey, which also reportedly asked about a discounted $2.50 Web access rate for subscribers. The Times already dabbled in subscription-based services back in 2007 with the now-defunct Times Select, which provided paid access to columnists' content. Google's Chrome Os: Next Up, a Web Tablet?
Source:
PC Magazine
Google's evolution follows an interesting trend. And if the line holds true, I think we can guess what comes next after the Chrome OS. I tweeted as much earlier yesterday, (with a timeline error or two; blame the doctor's office) but I'll recap it here and extrapolate out further. Most of the hubbub about search lately has centered on Bing and Google. But the one that started it all, Yahoo, will try to make its own splash in search, with a new feature called Search Pad. The service will go live Tuesday night at 9:00 PM Pacific Time. Basically, Search Pad pops up a window that saves your search process as clickable links, that can be saved to the Yahoo service if you're logged in. Search Pad will automatically ...

'This is a direct attack on Microsoft's revenue base,' one analyst says. Google says it expects Chrome OS, initially aimed at users of netbooks, to reach the market in the second half of 2010.

Source:
All About Jazz
Chrome OS, Googles newly announced computer operating system, is coming this autumn and promises to revolutionize netbooks and other underpowered machines.
Essentially, the OS is a small, fast-booting platform whose purpose is to run a browser, and from there all the Google apps and other web services you know and love. But why bother? Your netbook already has a browser and access to Googles applications. What could Chrome do for you and your netbook?
Cost Netbooks are cheap. ...
