On Monday, we received an email from A2IM declaring that “indies" had “reigned" at the Grammys, while citing Arcade Fire's Album of the Year award. Jazz singer and bassist Esperanza Spalding won the Best New Artist of the Year award at this year's 53rd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Spalding is an inventive composer and performer whose latest recording, Chamber Music Society, is influenced by classical, jazz, folk and world music.
