Elio Villafranca leads a stellar quintet with trumpeter Bruce Harris, saxophonist Greg Tardy, bassist Gregg August and drummer Dion Parson. Villafranca is at the forefront of the latest generation of pianists, composers, and bandleaders. Since his arrival in the U.S. in 1995, Elio Villafranca has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades and is at the forefront of the latest generation of remarkable jazz musicians. He has recorded and performed as a leader with jazz master artists such as Pat Martino, Terell Stafford, Billy Hart, Paquito D’Rivera, Eric Alexander, Lewis Nash, David Murray, and Wynton Marsalis. Downbeat reports, “Villafranca has emerged as a commanding presence on the jazz scene, not just in the U.S. but throughout the world.”
