NEW YORK, NY -- The Harlem Preservation Foundation will present it's 2nd Annual “Harlem Reunion Concert" on Monday, December 8, 2003, at Aaron Davis Hall, 138 Convent Avenue in Manhattan. A reception at 6:00 P.M. will be followed by the concert at 7:30 P.M.

An outstanding lineup of jazz greats and new rising stars will make this one of the “must-see" events of the year. Performers will include Hank Jones, Ingrid Jensen, Earl May, Randy Weston, Frank Wess, Jimmy Owens and Winard Harper. Singer Jeanie Bryson will be joined by Gary Anthony Ramsay of NY1, Gil Noble of WABC, and David Ushery of WNBC as co-hosts for the evening. Actor-comedian Bill Cosby will be a special guest presenter.

Once again, the Foundation will take this opportunity to honor individuals with ties to Harlem who have made significant contributions in supporting and promoting the community. Those being honored this year are Jazz Legend Dr. Billy Taylor, Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields and NBC-4 Meteorologist Janice Huff.

Tickets start at $30, and are available at the Aaron Davis Hall Box Office (212-650-7148) or through Ticketmasters (212-307-7171). All proceeds will benefit the Harlem Preservation Foundation, a non-profit advocacy organization comprised of local community conservancy volunteers.

The mission of the Harlem Preservation Foundation is to identify Harlem institutions and buildings worthy of National Registry status because of their historical, cultural and educational significance to the community, and to help save any that are endangered. Through fund raising efforts, the Foundation will also provide grants or low-interest loans to help keep these institutions fully functional. Most recently, the Foundation has assisted the parishioners of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Harlem to try to reverse the closing and imminent destruction of this remarkable, historic church and school complex.

Other confirmed jazz artists on the concert program include Chip Jackson, Lonnie Plaxico, Marcus Strickland and Kim Thompson.
