UK-based outfit to release new album on May 21st

On Tuesday, May 21st, 2002, the UK-based jazz/groove outfit Down To The Bone will release Crazy Vibes and Things, their debut on GRP Records. Down To The Bone's trademark sounds are in place on Crazy Vibes and Things, which was produced and arranged by Down To The Bone mastermind Stuart Wade.

The album features the same tight community of musicians that have been performed on past Down To The Bone albums (including 2000's Spread The Word). Keyboards come from Neil Angilley, while Paul “Shilts" Weimar provides the tenor and alto saxes. Paul Turner (bass), Adrian Revell (alto and baritone sax, flute), and Tony Remy (guitar) also contribute to the mix.

Crazy Vibes and Things flows effortlessly from beginning to end, kicking off with “Electra Glide," a high energy jolt driven by Turner's prolific bass, and winding its way through until the dark and sexy closer, “Cooking With Gas." “On A Roll" heavily features Remy's guitar before the disc slides into the retro-hip “Music Is My Drug." The album, which was recorded and produced at Wade's own Surrey, UK-based studios, fills out with songs such as “Stargazer," “I Softly Surrender (To You)," and the title track.

One of Crazy Vibes and Things' high points is “My One and All," featuring Hill St. Soul vocalist Hilary Mwelwa.

Stuart Wade and Down To The Bone gave the worldwide jazz/groove scene a firm, swift kick when their debut From Manhattan To Staten was released in 1996. With tracks like “Staten Island Groove," “Brooklyn Heights," and “Carlito's Way," the album blew up in clubs across Europe, while dominating the NAC charts in the States. Their blend of jazz, soul, and dance really stood out in the contemporary jazz genre.

Down To The Bone looks forward to bringing this sound to fans with a Summer 2002 tour in the works.

Crazy Vibes and Things [314 589 609-2] available on CD May 21st, 2002.
