Dean Brown Group: Fall 2011 European Tour

Those who have seen and heard Dean Brown perform are immediately struck by the passion and energy he puts into each note. His compositions are thoughtful and intense, yet lyrical vehicles for individual as well as group expression. The strength of Brown's virtuosic rhythm technique makes his music groove in a unique way.

For close to 30 years Dean Brown has been an integral part of the global fusion and electric jazz scene, recording and/or touring around the world with his own projects and legendary artists such as: Marcus Miller,David Sanborn, Bob James,The Brecker Brothers, Billy Cobham, George Duke, Roberta Flack, Joe Zawinul, Lenny White, Kirk Whalum, Dennis Chambers, Bill Evans, Victor Bailey, and Steve Smith's Vital Information.

Brown's soulful, dynamic and creative guitar work can be heard on well over 200 recordings, numerous Grammy® nominations and four Grammy® Award winners. Records such as The Brecker Brothers “Return of the Brecker Brothers" and “Out Of The Loop," Marcus Miller's “The Sun Don't Lie," Billy Cobham's “Warning," and Joe Zawinul's “Faces and Places" are just a few out of the long list. His performances include Live DVD's with Marcus Miller, Billy Cobham, Gil Evans, David Sanborn and Friends, Louie Belson, Bob James, and Steve Smith's Vital Information.

Dean has released three critically acclaimed solo CD's worldwide titled “Here," “Groove Warrior" and “DB III~Live At The Cotton Club Tokyo" and an Instructional DVD with publishing giant Hal Leonard for Musicians Institute titled “Modern Techniques For The Electric Guitarist."

Brown continues to tour and sell out venues all over the world with his own all-star groups and recently returned to Japan for the third consecutive year with his trio “DB III" which has featured Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, and Will Lee.

For Dean's upcoming fall tour he has chosen to lead a formidable quartet. On drums is the incredible Marvin “Smitty" Smith, whose credits include Dave Holland, Kevin Eubanks, Sting, and a virtual who's who of the jazz strata. “Smitty" is also an integral part of Dean's soon to be released 4th CD.

The young french bassist Hadrien Feraud is taking the world by storm with his otherworldly technique and musicality. His credits include John McLaughlin, Bireli Lagrene and Chick Corea. Hadrien is also featured on Dean's new CD.

To round out the quartet, Dean has called on the brilliant vibraphonist, Bernard Maseli. An active jazz as well as classical performer and Professor at the prestigious Academy of Music in Katowice, Maseli's innovative electronic mallet (KAT) percussion playing can be heard on numerous recordings with his band, The Globetrotters, the group Walkaway and many others.
