In August 2000, I wrote in my mp3.com brand-new page: "The last time that my guitar and I were on the stage was in june 1995. From then my songs have remain keeped in tapes that no one has heard anymore. Today, this criogenic capsule full of mp3 emotions begins a trip through the unknown cyberspace looking for planets musically inhabitats, worlds that can be similars to yours." On 2/2/2002 I will make my first live music performance after seven years of absence. Between 1995 and 2002 much things was happened. My story: I'm born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in June of 1963. In 1981 I begun my professional musician carrer as a jazz bassist and guitarist. Soon, by that way, I discover the bossa nova. My first songs were written in 1984. With them I begun his experience of fusion of the brazilian music with the afro-uruguian music. At the same time I begun playing brazilian music in differents Montevideo's night clubs. This intimate bound public-artist capture me from the beginings and although I play in theaters too, the night was the natural plays for my music. During 14 years uninterrupted as night clubs bossa nova's own songs and covers performer, I had to leave my activities for personal reasons (June 1995). However, this retirement, apparently definitive, gave an unexpected turn. Surprise, in August 2000, I inaugurates my music site at mp3.com. This fact means the first stage of my return to the professional musician activity, after several years of absence. Given the nature of the new technologies, I can feature for the first time my old recordings (between 1989 and 1990) in an international context. Until that then, I had remained "isolated" within the local scene of my country, Uruguay, whose population does not surpass the 3 million people, and whose musical market isn't the ideal for my music: really, before the on-line music technology, my opportunities were very little. Since August 2000, many things have changed for me. The success of my music at my mp3.com site encourage me to record a new album: "Opus Bossa Nova", that is published in mp3.com in October 2001, and which obtains great acceptance by Bossa Nova and Latin Jazz fans from around the world. The repertoire of this album is formed with three of my old bossa Nova songs ("Barco sin puerto", "Valizas" and "Piensa"), and five new bossa nova songs writed during 2001 ("What kind of love", "Crazy Science Fiction World", "A dream that to fulfill", "As simple as a star" and "Between the sand and the sea"). "Opus Bossa Nova" marks the my second step of my return to the stage; in this case, not sent only to the local scope, but rather, directed to the bossa nova lovers anywhere in the world. Finally, the success of "Opus Bossa Nova" impels me to return to the live performaces during 2002 (the third step of my return), as much in the local scene as in the international scene. Also right now I'm working in a new Bossa Nova album The first stop over of my new trip will be on 5/11/2002. German Bense LISTEN/DOWNLOAD GERMAN BENSE'S BOSSA NOVA AT: www.mp3.com/germanbense
