If Chris Potter's rising star seems to have no limit it's because his recognizable sound and flexible approach has become so in-demand that other artists are literally lining up to work with him.

But his own projects, fourteen to date since he released Presenting Chris Potter in 1992 at the age of 21, are taking increasing precedence, with his latest release, Underground (Sunnyside, 2006), being his most fully-realized and personal project to date.

AAJ contributor Mike Brannon caught up with Potter recently, and spoke to him about projects past and present, as well as his ongoing work as a core member of bassist Dave Holland's quintet.
