Charlie Haden Family & Friends: Rambling Boy has earned legendary bassist Charlie Haden his best-selling debut in over half a century of making music. The album ranked #2 on Billboard's bluegrass chart, and landed in the overall Top 100, as well as riding near the top on Amazon's bestsellers all week.

The record has been earning critical praise, as well. It's scored raves from Entertainment Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and NPR, where Haden was the subject of over an hour of programming the week of release, between an extended Weekend Edition profile, airing 9/21, and an interview with Terry Gross on “Fresh Air" on 9/24.

Charlie Haden Family & Friends: Rambling Boy is an intriguing album of mostly traditional songs Charlie Haden learned as a young child while performing with his own siblings and parents as part of the Haden Family in the 1930s. Charlie's friends making an appearance on the album include such luminaries as Vince Gill, Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Skaggs, Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, his long-time collaborator Pat Metheny, and many more. It also features Haden's entire immediate family: his wife Ruth; his triplet daughters Tanya, Rachel, and Petra; and his son Josh (all established musicians in their own right).
