Tickets are now available for the 2 and 4pm performances, featuring jazzy holiday favorites and spiritual songs. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 504-522-2841. All ages are welcome.

You can also ring in the New Year and celebrate the season with the return of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, fresh off the Down By The Riverside tour with The Blind Boys of Alabama. The band will be performing with Galactic at Tipitinas on New Years Eve at 10 pm and you can also catch them at Preservation Hall on Dec. 13, 20, and 27 at 8 pm.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band has kept the traditional New Orleans music vigorous with a hint of later New Orleans R&B creeping into the vocals (Toronto Life). The Los Angeles Times says Preservation Hall keeps its jazz hot and Tucson Weekly says New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band keeps the joyousness alive.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band is:
Ben Jaffe/Creative Director & Tuba: Son of co-founders Allan and Sandra Jaffe, Ben was raised in the heart of the French Quarter, graduated from Oberlin College, and joined the band as a bassist for their world tour. Gradually he assumed his late fathers responsibilities as director of the Hall while continuing as a full-time band member and adjunct professor at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.

Mark Braud/Trumpet and Vocals: Nephew of former Preservation Hall bandleaders John & Wendell Brunious, Mark has performed with Eddie Bo, Henry Butler, Harry Connick Jr., and Dr. Michael White, among others.

Charlie Gabriel/Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocals: Born in New Orleans, Gabriel played with some of the early Preservation Hall greats including George Lewis, Big Jim Robinson, Kid Sheik and others.

Clint Maedgen/Reeds and Vocals: Studied with Alvin Baptiste at Southern University in Lafayette and has built his reputation as an eclectic performer/writer through The New Orleans Bingo! Show and Liquidrone, two side projects which remain very active.

Joe Lastie, Jr./Drums: Began playing drums at age eight and studied jazz with Willie Metcalf, where his classmates included Wynton and Branford Marsalis. Lastie has been a regular with the Band since 1989. Preservation Hall recently released a gospel recording featuring the Lastie family, entitled Joe Lastie & the Lastie Family Gospel.

Freddie Lonzo/Trombone: Lonzo plays every style of New Orleans music, from marching brass band to modern jazz. He has performed with Doc Paulin, Alvin Alcorn, Dr. Michael White, Wynton Marsalis, Bob French, The Olympia Brass Band and Henry Butler.

Walter Payton/Bass and Vocals: Peyton has been the citys most respected bassist for the past forty years. He has performed and recorded with Harry Connick Jr., Aaron Neville, Lee Dorsey, Champion Jack Dupree, Chuck Carbo, James Booker, and his son, Nicholas Payton, among countless others.

Rickie Monie/Piano: raised in the Ninth Ward and the son of amateur musicians, Monie majored in woodwinds at Dillard University and joined the band when he was called to substitute for the legendary resident pianist Sweet Emma Barrett after she suffered a stroke. Mr. Monie also marched with the Olympia Brass Band.
