Biseo-Sanjust Quartet have been performing together and individually for over 15 years and is one of the most appreciated jazz ensembles in Italy. Its main feature is the clarinet and trombone. Their repertoire features evergreens and chestnuts from the 20s till today from composers such as Berlin, Gershwin, Porter, Ellington - among others - with new arrangements, simplicity and good taste.
Riccardo Biseo bio
Born in Rome, he studied classical piano and organ with Enrico Pasini and classical composition with Gino Marinuzzi. In 1980 studied jazz piano class in London with Brian Priestley and writing and arranging with Dick Walters at the Goldsmith University. He teaches jazz at Saint Louis Music Academy and I.AL.S. (Istituto Addestramento Lavoratori Spettacolo) in Rome and has assisted at the Perugia summer clinics run by Duke University and Berklee College of music during the Umbria Jazz festival. As a jazz pianist he played with international and Italian jazz stars (Buck Clayton, Tony Scott, Stephan Grappelli, Jimmy Witherspoon, Massimo Urbani, Giovanni Tommaso, Marcello Rosa, Gianni Sanjust, Anita o’Day, Bob Wilber, Buddy de Franco, Nicola Arigliano, Gegè Telesforo, Slide Hampton, Benny Golson, Terry Gibbs, Al Grey, Etta Jones, Lee Konitz, James Moody, Dusko Goykovich). Took part in a number of Radio and TV broadcasts in Italy such as Canzonissime, RadioUno Jazz Sera, Indietro tutta, International DOC club, Scommettiamo che?, Mille lire al mese. He composed, arranged, played for theatrical productions such as Pirandello's “Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore
