All things in the universe are in a constant state of flux and change. In this universe we live our own life according to our own individuality. We are always connected to the universe and are a part of the overall flow of nature and life and the universe.
Billie Davies
What music will exist in the 25th century? What styles will people listen to? How will sound continue to evolve?
These are the questions that inspired Billie Davies to begin her project No Boundaries, Music for the 25th Century / Music For The Future—an ever-evolving exploration of free improvisation from a deeply natural, instinctive, and intuitive place. It is a spontaneous expression through sound, exploring new landscapes and new forms, free from constraints.
The avant-garde spirit of two great musicians, Billie Davies and Branden James Lewis, captures the essence of human nature.
This first release in the series features Billie Davies on electronic drums, percussion, and electronic piano; Branden Lewis on trumpet, digitized trumpet textures, digital keys, synth waves, and loops; and Damani Butler contributing Electronic Loops and Waves on “TizWaditIz.”
A little less than a year before Billie Davies left New Orleans for the Florida beaches in 2022, she began working on a project with Branden Lewis and Damani Butler. The music on this album was created in late October 2021 as a proof of concept for Billie Davies’ project No Boundaries, Music For The 25th Century. It was recorded on the second day of a two-day session during which the musicians explored ideas, equipment, and each other’s approach. The mixing provided only sound balance and clarity—nothing about the intensity, composition, or performance was altered. Billie handled the cutting, while Mike completed the remixing and remastering of the pieces that ultimately became the album 2455 (Music For The Future), to be released digitally (streaming and download) and on vinyl and CD on demand.
After listening for several years to the freely improvised music created during this original demo session—music she initially titled “Pandemos”—Billie Davies recognized how special certain tracks were. She also heard the unmistakable influence of the 2020–2021 Covid pandemic in the playing. She knew the music needed to be released so it could be shared widely.

Though he never originally planned a career in music, trumpet playing has always been central to his life. His grandfather, Grammy-winning saxophonist James Victor Lewis, was a key figure in New Orleans R&B and a member of Li’l Millet & His Creoles before relocating to Los Angeles in the 1960s. Despite the move, the family’s New Orleans roots remained strong.
Branden grew up playing trumpet in church, marching band, and one of Los Angeles’ top youth orchestras. In 2012, he moved to New Orleans to pursue his musical path. Under the mentorship of Delfeayo Marsalis and through regular performances at Snug Harbor, he quickly became part of the city’s musical fabric.
He has collaborated with Dee Dee Bridgewater, appeared on the Grammy-nominated the Bobby Rush featuring Dr. John album Decisions (2014), co-founded the international Trumpet Mafia collective, toured with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra beginning in 2015, and joined the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in 2016.
