Sowing Jazz in Wineland
San Rafael (Mendoza, Argentina) is pioneers place, situated in the center/west of the country. People who came at the beginning of the XX century from european countries, transformed with hard work the desert into an oasis. Trough years, viticulture became the main productive activity and today best wines of Argentina are made there. To the begining of the XXI century tourism is the new activity of a privileged region because of its natural beauty.
Jorge Lardone is also a pioneer, sowing jazz during twenty years in Mendoza, a province not available for twentieth century music. You may count with your fingers the number of international known musicians that have played there, but, in spite of that, some gifted artists have grown up there. Of course many of them have to go abroad in order to grown, but Lardone decided to stay. He took to his birthplace the best of jazz trough radio, television, concerts, shows, photographs displays, festivals and many others cultural activities, related to the music he loves the most.
His job has been know with surprise by people who lives in places where jazz is an habitual activity. His photographs have received the approval of the jazz musicians who recognized in the images the special atmosphere of jazz environment.
Lardone, who must work in third world conditions with a ridiculous budget, use a simple and antique camera Olympus OM-2, using always ligth from the environment.
A critic from El Mercurio" newspaper (Chile) wrote about Lardone photographs: Lardone gave us a subjetive view of jazz with images that show moments that camera delivery with jazz special fugacity: improvisation. Jorge Lardone uses the instant accord in photographs full of mistery and suggestion".
