Somebody asked me why did you record standards on this new album considering that you still have several new compositions to be recorded and that two of your tunes have just been included in both The European Real Book" and The Digital Real Book, part two".
My answer is that I needed to also document, at this time of my life, the way we interpret these fantastic composers with different stories and from different historic periods. It was also very emotional to record my new tunes and of course, I can't wait to record my new compositions on my next CD.
In order to play Jazz we need to listen to what others want to say and follow them. They also listen to you and follow you. Dialogue is what we need in the world and dialogue is Jazz. Because of this we can try new things when we feel like it. And most of all we need to trust each other, that is why I like Jazz so much, because in Jazz I can find what I am too often missing in life. Jazz is a lesson of life for all of us. - Andrea Marcelli
