Combining her natural flair for American jazz and affinity for Brazilian samba, Orna strikes a beguiling pose on The Very Thought Of You. Produced by bassist Brian Bromberg, Orna's debut for A440 MusicGroup (Street date: February 18) highlights the South African-born vocal discovery in a program of familiar jazz standards revamped in a contemporary mode.

Accompanied by Bromberg along with pianist Tom Zink and drummer Chris Wabich from her regular working trio, Orna distinguishes herself as a confident, swinging, eminently stylish and appealing singer on her auspicious debut.

From a smooth jazz interpretation of the Nat 'King' Cole vehicle “Nature Boy" to a samba-fied rendition of Kurt Weill's “My Ship" to her blazing take on Charlie Parker
